Your Named GP

NHS England now requires all patients to have a named GP. This is a doctor in the practice who is the first point of contact if you need to discuss any issues relating to your health. Other doctors, nurses and health professionals may also contact this doctor if they need to find out more information about you.

Please ask the reception staff if you would like to know who your Named GP is.

Having a Named GP does NOT mean that you are obliged to see this doctor for your health care: it simply means that this doctor has agreed to be the one who will link your care to other people. This may involve asking your usual doctor for advice about you or arranging appointments or tests.

Your named GP may use the information in your medical records to make sure that you are getting the sort of help that you need and that your healthcare wishes are respected. You are still free to book appointments with whichever doctor you prefer.

You will not notice any difference in the way that your care is provided. We recommend that you continue to use our services exactly as before. If you feel very strongly that you need to change your Named GP please let one of the reception staff know and we will arrange this for you. This change will not affect your care or the availability of GP's for you to see.
